My name is Eric J. Michel (last name pronounced “Michelle”) and I am an Assistant Professor of Management in the College of Business at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL.
I earned my Ph.D. in Human Resource Management and Organizational Behavior from the University of Illinois at Chicago. My dissertation, How does work engagement lead to in-role behavior and OCB? An empirical test of Affective Events Theory, was chaired by Sandy Wayne and my committee consisted of Don Kluemper, Bob Liden, John Lynch, and Micki Kacmar.
My dissertation proposal was awarded a Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) Foundation Dissertation Grant through the Academy of Management Human Resources (HR) Division. At the 2018 Academy of Management annual meeting, my dissertation was named one of five Overall All-Academy finalists for the William H. Newman Award for Best Paper Based on a Dissertation, as my dissertation was named the Best Paper Based on a Dissertation from the HR Division.
